Your Catches: Nice Topwater Smallmouth
Jun 16th
The wather was stable around 80 degrees, so I figured I would try some topwater with the zara spook. I witnessed a few wakes which were a bit too far to cast out to. I launched my lure and was able to reach exactly where I was aiming for. Slow twitches and steady walking the dog did the trick. He put up a good fight while jumping out of the water at least 6 to 8 times.

I observed fish surfacing by some cement blocks and brush cover, I decided to move closer and cast towards them using topwater. On my first retrieve I got a nice strike, but couldn’t set the hook. I cast again toward the same spot, I got another strike but this time I got him. I pulled this smallie out, not too bad of a fight.

Activity was low that day and I was anxious to catch a topwater bass on the Zara Spook. I started to retrieve extremely slow. I Got a hit and set the hook, he was putting up a good fight. It was nice to get action on a slower day.
