The Basics
Fishing Etiquette
Mar 6th
On one particularly beautiful spring morning, deep in the desolate woods. I stood knee deep in a light cool stream current, the sun slowly beginning to warm overhead. Cast after meticulous cast I spent working a couple of brown trout that seemed content on just letting all sorts of delicious offerings drift past them. No worries though, intent on solving the puzzle I was on to the next weapon in my arsenal. Sooner or later one of those fish was going to be coaxed
It was no sooner that the thought entered my mind that it had quickly escaped. Behind me rustling leaves and branches that had me wondering if a rhinoceros had somehow escaped from the local zoo. Thinking that a wild animal could be plotting to kill me, I quickly turned around. To my surprise I turn to see a human being struggling immensely in thick forage. Finally emerging from natures grasp, a young human stands dumb founded blankly staring at me, bird ox clinging to his shirt.
Cover & Structure
Mar 3rd
One of the most important aspects of fishing is understanding cover and structure . Understanding cover and structure can dramatically change your success when fishing. Let’s start by clarifying the difference between the two, as I find people seem to get the two mixed up quite often.
Cover: The easiest way to think of cover is as an add on feature to a body of water; weed beds, docks, fallen trees, logs, reeds etc.
Structure: Structure refers to the physical qualities of a body of water; points, islands, bays etc.
