Here’s some footage of us fishing near and around the Caughdenoy dam on the Oneida River system.
Walleye That Never Were, A Tale of Opening Weekend 2010 (Part 2: Jamesville Reservoir)
May 6th
Muskrat Bay proved unkind to us on opening night of walleye season. For a change of scenery we decided to fish the more underutilized Jamesville Reservoir. We were banking on catching big walleyes. I could envision it all in my head. I was seeing myself pull out fish after giant fish, finally setting a lake and world record for the first 213 inch long walleye ever caught.
I dreamt that up between my 23,134th and 23,135th cast of the night. Much like the night before there wasn’t much going on. There was absolutely no one around besides Juice, myself, and a flying bat. A flying bat whose sole purpose in life I’ve boiled down to one cataclysmic event. Sabotage my casting technique by flying directly into my face and giving me rabies.
Walleye That Never Were, A Tale of Opening Weekend 2010 (Part 1: Muskrat Bay, Oneida Lake)

Fishing for walleye is often a game of chance. We’ve all had tough days on the water, and the majority of mine have come in the form of night time walleye fishing. When these fish aren’t around and aren’t biting, prepare yourself for a long night or in our case a long weekend.
We started off at Muskrat Bay just past Oneida shores on the southwest corner of the lake. Me and Juice got to work early and claimed a staging area. Pretty soon the shoreline filled with lanterns and various father son fishing teams. As the dusk drew nearer, we waited patiently for the walleye to begin migrating into shallower water.
Jackall Flick Shake Brings Brewerton Bass

It’s no secret, I love the Gary Yamamoto Senko Worm. It’s been a proven bait that has brought me and thousands of others awesome results. Senko upon its inception has been synonymous with versatility, it’s well renown for it’s ability to be fished in a variety of ways. Between you and me though, I’ve never quite cared for all of the fancy rigs. Sure I know they work, but for me there’s only one way I find myself fishing a Senko worm and it’s always been about the wacky rig.
Opening Day of Trout Season 2010, Thoughts and Observations
Apr 3rd
Opening day of trout season can never come soon enough for a native New Yorker. It marks the turn of seasons here. Collectively moods shift across our great state, from the dark doldrums of winter on to the perennial happiness and joy that only summer can bring. This year didn’t disappoint, exceptional weather brought near record temperatures for our area.
Unfortunately though for every good there’s a bad. My problem with the great weather was being fitted with heavy neoprene waders. Neoprene waders get ridiculously hot. The only way to offset the heat is by getting into cool water. This was a deadly proposition. Previous nights of rainfall had turned tamed creeks into semi dangerous rapids.

Green tackle offers a selection of environmentally safe baits. Offering a unique alternative to soft baits.
I recently learned about
through the mass social networking phenomenon that is twitter. Green Tackle dedicates themselves to offering a wide variety of quality environmentally safe fishing products. As I browsed their online store, It didn’t take me long to discover that Green Tackle was offering something truly unique to the angling community. They fill a much needed niche.
A lot of people might shrug there shoulders at the idea behind Green Tackle. They don’t understand the importance of being an environmentally conscious angler. I touched on it in my article about fishing etiquette. Far too many times I’ve been disappointed by some of my fellow anglers waste disposal habits. I’ve seen first hand the damage that improperly discarded mono fishing line can cause.
