I was out for the opening walleye weekend and had a great time with my 2 brothers. On a Sunday at 2pm while running a planer board with a 900 series reef runner in purple descent, I saw the mark on the fish finder and within 2 minutes my board was shooting to the middle of the boat quite quickly. I knew it was a good fish. I had my brother throw the boat in reverse as the weight from the board and fish were making me nervous. After catching up on the fish, it came in quite easily and my brother did a great net job. 10″ lures work great for huge walleye! run them nice and slow at around 1.8-2.0 mph and play around till you find the right speed then dial this in time in and time out. Consistency is key and I suggest to anyone that loves trolling for to go get a line counter reel and a good 9-10′ trolling rod, along with a set of left/right planer boards. Learn how to mark fish at certain depths, then mimmick the forage, such as perch/shad/shiners. Never leave feeding fish, just keep passing back and forth, especially with walleye, they like to penetrate an area in numbers. My brother caught a fish early that morning that was a pound bigger than this one. Mine was 7lbs and his was 8lbs. Good Luck and go big or go Home!

I was fishing this winter in a 35 foot hole on the Bay of Quinte, When all of the sudden my flasher showed a nice red mark coming from above my bait, usually walleye come up from the bottom and hit and thought it was strange to be coming from above. This fish literally nosed my bait around for 5 minutes till my lure vanished, didnt even feel the bite set the hook and the drag started to peel right away! Caught it on a Buckshot with 3 minnows. After weighing it in at just over 15lbs, I released it to swim! My biggest fish through the ice but not the prettiest!

This is 26lb Chinook Salmon that I caught while fishing Lake Ontario last year. It’s an excellent way to work out in the morning, 45 minutes of pure power! I cannot wait to get out again for Chinook, I’m hooked on the fight!
